The Prowler 40 is constructed from the same mouldings as the Port-Isaac Convertible and is designed to compliment out new range of luxury Big Game fishing Catamarans built for the USA market.

Port Isaac have developed a new dive charter catamaran designed to give the absolute maximum fuel economy for skippers combined with an excellent turn of speed. The combination of speed and fuel economy, which until now has been impossible to attain, will now become the normal practice with these craft. Seventeen knots cruising speed will only consume 5 ½  U.K gallons of fuel per hour! A touch over three miles per gallon!   (see Fuel Curve)

Because the hull is a displacement hull, no fuel or power is wasted getting the cat up onto the plane. The ultra slim bows of the craft allow all the power to be used for forward motion instead of lift.

Our three year design and development program is now over. Port-Isaac have not rushed into this design and used customers to test the boats for them! The underwater hull lines come from the top Australian Cat designer and is thought to be the most efficient production Catamaran design in the world today. Port-Isaac's experience with the build of almost 700 Offshore craft gives us an extremely reliable engineering base.

Although the American style craft, with it's full luxury interior installed, would be totally price prohibitive and unnecessary for the UK charter skipper, the UK style cat will be a very much stripped down version of this craft and will be affordable and economical with the major difference only in the internal fit-out.

The interior is built to a commercial fishing standard with simple bunk seats, shower room and accommodation. Twin state rooms are available as an option for those who wish to use the vessel for cruising or overnight accommodation.

Helm can be Single Station on the flying bridge or Single Station in the wheelhouse or can be configured for Dual Station on the flying bridge and wheelhouse in areas where the weather is more severe. (The U.K. for instance.)

For wheelhouse control the forward windscreens are fitted with clear glass windows, unlike the full Florida style convertible which is Flybridge control only and normally has no forward facing windows. In Florida, where all the controls are from the Flybridge the wheelhouse (salon) is used solely for entertaining. Options are available for enclosed Flybridge control only in the UK and it is generally thought that this is the best all round option for comfort and visibility. It also leaves more space in the wheelhouse for divers.

Forward main wheelhouse windows can be omitted if required. This area is then useful for storage as it is in the USA.

Whilst every effort is made to produce a catamaran that is affordable to the professional skipper, the build is strictly to the Code of Practice safety regulations, with full certification offered as an option.

Engines are normally of a lower horse power than that found in an equivalent monohull and can be naturally aspirated , whilst still giving a top speed over 22 knots at a very low fuel consumption. Our standard craft has twin 250hp engines to give around 30 knots.

The Prowler is not normally used for overnight accommodation but can be customised to sleep a variety of combinations. From one double stateroom forward with shower and heads on the opposite side to comfortable berthing for six.
