Yellow Book Code – The Safety of Small Commercial Motor Vessels

In addition to the standard fit out of the Prowler Dive Cat, which complies to all the code of practice rules,  the following items will be required to complete the safety inventory, part 2, of the Code of Practice.  As you will see, this table has been compiled by John Fearnley, Marine Surveyor, Marine Consultants Group.

MCG will be happy to provide advice & clarification of any requirements.

A vessel certified under this code can be given a workboat endorsement (additional certificate) for operation as a workboat under the same operational & loading limits as for it’s yellow code certification.

Anchors/scope based on 12metres rule length:

18kg main anchor plus 10m of 8mm chain plus 38m of 14mm rope (nylon or equiv)

9kg kedge anchor plus 10mm of 8mm chain plus 38m of 12mm rope

Skipper qualification certificates are as described in Annex 7 of the code. It is the owner/operator’s responsibility to ensure compliance at all times when operating under the MCA code.
